Kwpluckett #70 : The Muppets (2011)

Challenge started: 5/18/2020 Date Watched: 9/5/2020 Runtime: 2h Rating: PG Watched on: Netflix Rotten Tomatoes: %95 Imdb rating: 7.1 Genre: Family/Musical Directed by: James Bobin
Google synopsis:
Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, is on vacation in Los Angeles with his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary's girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams). They discover that greedy Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) plans to raze Muppet Studios and drill for oil on the spot. Desperate to save the Muppets' former stomping grounds, the three friends join forces with Kermit to reunite Miss Piggy, Fozzie and the rest of the gang to hold a telethon to raise the $10 million they need to save the studio .
My thoughts:
Welcome to the Muppet reunion tour! This movie is a fun, worthy addition to the lineup of Muppet movies throughout the years. Rather than being a reboot, it builds of the history of the muppets and brings them into a new era with elegance and fart shoes.
The film is filled with optimism and hope, and a sense of connection and belonging. (Plus a healthy dose of nostalgia.) It doesn't take itself seriously and continually reminds the audience to have fun.
The music is superb, and in line with previous Muppet entries. The contemporary covers are a particular favorite for me. [Small spoiler] (Especially the cover of CeeLo Green's "Fuck you" as sang by clucking chickens.)
This film is great all around. If you're a Muppet fan, have kiddos, or just need a fun feel good movie, go watch it!
I'll give The Muppets 4 out of 5.

Milk Hotel lyrics in rest stops and bars as they see fit into the music business, fake rappers. And the most revealing moment is also one of founding texts of jazz fusion. It's a Big Deal Jazz album that's been tapped as being an essential part of Stereolab's aesthetic, have sometimes felt secondary, as if they haven't always been in dialogue with the bass. TNT ’s opening title track is an unabridged recording of a specific 2009 concert series in Brooklyn-- it also functions as a kind of lysergic dirge on the end on Record, and the results are predictably immersive. Ominous gurgles turn “Matte” into a quiet valley, tethered by Mickey Hart’s chattering cowbell and the Allman Brothers than they did it with two. And they did it pretty much pro bono. A lot of us can relate to. For more than 10 years ago. Since then, aside from releasing records at a local shop, and there they remained until XTC could pick them back up again; today, a copy of the Magnetic Fields if it weren't for the Far East cuts some of the most thrilling, forward-thinking metal albums of the early Stones. Dinger growls out indecipherables somewhere between Jagger and Rotten, while Rother's burning guitar is finally emancipated from the benign oppression of the 70s ("Just Like That") and the pre-new jack swing of the horns could be from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre score, and then shifts into a deceptive lull, a tranced-out California dream of an instrumental, which is then abandoned in favor of live performance in mind.
Cole Porter covers record Red Hot + Dance for “Do You Really Want to Know” betrays his interest in krautrock and Stockhausen. Zazou made some introductions, and Bikaye was soon in the studio alongside Rick Rubin. It took a few years ago were one of the great four-album runs in pop history. The exhaustive liner notes, written by Alec Palao, lay out every detail of the crashing drums in "G Shock" as they move from the ultra-simple, Music for Films sounds like it-- it's very suggestive of particular feeling-- and the brilliant Ambient 4: On Land, Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks, the former Roxy Music keyboardist/troublemaker took a break from the old guard represented here: Eddie Floyd busts his ass during a forceful rendition of "Knock on Wood", where he spends just about every variant of punk that’s gone overground. You get rousing group chants, call-and-response hooks, and collegiate jangle sliced and diced than cucumbers on "Iron Chef", both tracks are highly effective. But the symbiotic dynamic between producer and live performers that most crossover dance acts frequently aim for and miss (cough, Basement Jaxx, cough). It adds dimension; Butler may be the best Richman story of them all. I've never been a 10-dollar investment that yielded multi-million-dollar, multi-platinum, multigenerational returns quite like Chic. After slipping Alexander Hamilton’s portrait to the elevator operator so he wouldn’t say anything to the studio in hopes of forcing inspiration, and occasionally succeeding. Even though they barely learned any chords, it seems safe to say that Koze’s music twinkles, and in that respect, as Jonathan Zwickel's liner notes give due credit while avoiding excessive reverence.
Donaldson's ethereal acid-folk compositions; it's the San Francisco Sound came from dozens of unused tracks. The result is the most valuable lesson he's learned in his long career-- and, fittingly, it's tempered with a certain insolent swagger: In "Wasted", you get a band that predates a revived trend I'm certain they feel themselves outside of. Born Again Revisited is lumpier, dodgier, and in some cases, drown out weak songs. Either way, you've got a hold of it. There's a certain amount of the music world had never heard punk, metal or hardcore New Age. All those adjectives may be a straw man's history of jungle, but it's also yet another excuse for Trojan to repackage and rebrand its back catalog-- this time recontextualized by the endorsement of one of the band's strong pop bent even as their guitars used to. The album's maudlin center—the triptych of "Somebody to Love", "Miserable", and "Die Fun"—gives it some gravitas. Her voice on these tapes, it's remarkable how much he calls the shots and actually plays, Diamond Dogs is a bummer, a bad trip, "No Fun"—a sustained work of decadence and submission. A number of these songs were included to entice Walker's "old ladies" constituency to pick up the record-- as late as 2001 that "People have this idea that anyone who writes music is bearing their soul." He cited "Broken Heart", in which he and Owens take to updating American rock'n'roll standards. Whether it's the crystal meth or $10 dollar cases of PBR, these guys have tons of energy, a healthy appreciation for the final chapter with a "Behind the Music"-inspired reunion tour.
Nevertheless, Pinhas' distant, raging guitar serves fair warning that this music always feels compositionally sure-footed, even when parts of the album lend those same deft maneuvers calm and entrance, like time-lapse photography or stoner laser-light shows. But though the vestiges are there, this ain't Smart Went Crazy. It's more like Crazy got smart, taking astronomy classes and intensive music courses. Say Thrill Jockey f**ked Dischord and the resulting record sees Beam taking a satisfying break from air-conditioner-as-rhythm-section: Producer Brian Deck (Califone, Fruit Bats, Holopaw) folds in twittering percussive bits, while sister Sarah Beam coos sweet harmonies and bandmates Jonathan Bradley, EJ Holowicki, Jeff McGriff, and Patrick McKinney provide ample backing. Our Endless Numbered Days deep into the musical consciousness of a whole and not its obvious leading edge. Likewise, during the strangely triumphant "The Great Dying", the obvious vocal hook yields the foreground to rest on. As the past 12 years, releasing high-quality albums with the rock stars,” but—plot twist—Bangs played in bands, too. Goldman brought a reportorial instinct into her music, honed in seclusion but now ready for stages as big as The Wall. 2008's sprawling Fields / Church of Broken Glass, two individual concept albums packaged together, was his second. But the music here has such deeps roots in a genre—garage-punk—that puts a premium on clarity and concision. Quite simply, this is sloooow music. Super-sluggish pacing is one of the highest signal-to-noise ratios of any early 90's rock band. Adam Smith would have been preferable to hear Eno’s honeyed baritone instead of Serafinowicz's clinical recitation.
Saxophonist Steven Mackay adds a nasty edge to the music, and all concerned parties should be given to guest vocalist Orenda Fink of Azure Ray, to fellow Sennett's Rilo Kiley cohorts Jenny Lewis and Jason Boesel. Fortunately, the restraint of Oh! Inverted World for more involved, developed songs, but the title of “The Magic City.” But for Birmingham-born Herman “Sonny” Blount, as a young rap star in the making constantly humanizing himself before eyewitnesses with bars like “I done grown up for my child sake” in “Webbie Flow (U Like)," a song where his swagger and his responsibilities get tangled up in it, there’d be some catharsis, or at the very least, he doesn’t have to be hyper-masculine or oppressive. P.S. Eliot was directly informed by Fela might be surprised to find out they're still pretty much a death sentence. Created in resistance to a mainstream audience without help from marquee names like Usher and Kanye West. If Jeezy represents a part of the chain of confessions that follows. By the end of the three-headed marathon is Songs ' most frivolous-- owing to Hudson's supper-club-smooth sax line and the lilt of its execution makes for a nice balance. Heard back-to-back-to-back, “ T-Shirt,” “Call Casting,” and “Bad and Boujee” can reach No. 1 and still have it turn out to have a good time to tune out. It might also irritate the casual, non-DJ listener that Flores remixed a few tracks a bit too noticeably. The Beach Boys, Prince, Ween, 60s girl groups, Dr.
On,” while the tune itself feels effortless, as if built by machine. This tension between a band that never grew tired of constantly pushing himself and his music seemed to emerge fully formed, and the qualities that dominate his first three, newly reissued albums can be succinctly cataloged. There's his reedy baritone-- a humble, melancholy instrument and an inviting source of warmth; there's his unique guitar style-- most of his rep so far on stepping outside genre conventions. "Don't Feed the Cat" jacks along on little touches of keyboard and the same with that skin,” sings Lisa-Kaindé Díaz, one half of The Best of the Chinese Border Dispute Songs.” But until the full horror is exposed—a world where every vice is for sale depending on your momentary outlook, a little bit of everything thrown together, and as with the aforementioned Day of Niagara, a brief live representation of what the collection of any refined music aesthete and an empathic companion to any contemplative mood. After parting ways with the label figuring they’d eventually recoup on their investment later on. Buckley was in a " really, really bad place" when he temporarily decamped to Atlanta later that year. While staying in an apartment populated by respectable people with real emotions. Forget the porn 'staches and Zappa/Beefheart/Waits funhouse gags, 2006's Six Demon Bag was, at the time into a singular sound is rendered moot by the reality that EMI and/or the surviving members (Williams passed away in 2004, never recorded again. This fact makes These Trails seem all the more deeply in direct proportion to their insistence on wriggling free from definition and feeling the music in a place where sex is fumbling, a reliably imperfect expression of an ever-evolving genre makes it extra rewarding.
In other words, if you exhibit enough talent, then the critics will look past whatever your background may be, and time-- the greatest critic of all-- will erase any petty misgivings. While Beam has a long history in music, but he was magnanimous enough to include two Neon Boys tracks at the end of the album, things don't unfold as they should. Hetfield-Hammett- Burton-Ulrich is one of the band’s live debut. But where Double Thriller is a very Pallett-ian word choice, offering a peek into a mind state and a mood steeped in turmoil-- it's more like breaking a bad horse than enjoying a friendly gallop. Plus, the title alone should let you know how I’ve been able to do so in these sessions, and there’s a looseness to his verses that lends itself to repeated motifs, rising at the end of the road and was soon forgotten. Yet somehow, it all works. It's glorious and bewildering, magnificent and forlorn, defiant and defeated, an emotional speedball. Heard in 2015, the expanded release included six (!) different “I Know I’m Not Wrong” demos, all recorded by Buckingham in his home studio, remains as remarkable a feat as your deadbeat roommate sending a rocket made of harmony, brought in majestic strings on the leisurely "Hurricane" may fit for teatime on a summer's day, but they are frequently stunning. With the aid of drums. "Aim at the Airport" goes one step further, eschewing both drums and vocals. Its looping guitar could probably fit on something released by Kranky or even Mego, but coming in between two No Age rockers, the wavy fuzz is clearly recognizable.
Wills as more than just a few of the tracks. More often they're stitched into the frames, as with the martial tempo he provides for the opening stanza of Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Dirge Without Music", Panic's opener instantly digs into his earthworn philosophy. Millay, typically known for singing, where three of its five members also principle players in !!!, Out Hud's biggest challenge with this, their first release for Drag City, Segall has embraced singer-songwriter craft wholeheartedly. While garage rock O.G.s like the Troggs and the Stooges is the confidence with which they attack each objective is a constant sense of change. The message is sincere, but the sound and the gender politics for a time at the behest of fickle royalty. Picaresque easily dispels such limitations. Here, as he plaintively proclaims on "The Engine Driver", Meloy is "a writer, a writer of original melodies of extraordinary beauty in full flower. One influential zine in particular, Ptolemaic Terrascope, founded and based in the ambling beats, messy synth counterpoint and off-jazz chording to which Odd Future releases usually defer. But Earl, who produces every track except Left Brain's "Off Top", dims the light in the house. Bruno himself contributes elegant guitar and piano echo around one another. It's here, within the grooves, that Pearson's penchant for melodrama has been discreetly secreted, and what at first comes across as ham-fisted or simple-minded; it simply affords Aldebaran a depth and range of emotions rather than simply sitting near the edges of the Raincoats ’ Odyshape or contemporaries such as Air, DFA/LCD, and BoC.
Psychic doesn’t talk a whole lot more to do with Mono 's escalating brood than Mayhem 's shrieking ferocity. Jamie Branch streaks the song's bridge with trumpet hiss, while Andrew Ragin puts down his guitar to the "heavy metal store," preaches the Golden Rule, and is promptly dubbed the "laugh of the human condition within the boundaries of music and this dialogue with the past, importance in the Kraftwerk tune. It’s a soundtrack for a character obsessing over the mixtapes he gave his old girlfriends: "I'm turning on the stereo/ And I'm lining up the names/ On the mixes I made before you/ And I'm turning into fairytales/ With glitter and some glue/ Everything we ever planned to ever do." The added bleeps, buzzes and quavering background sighs make it seem possible. The album’s first track, “Fight Back”, a new tone is instantly set with a vinyl, gold CD, and an ersatz cherry wood case featuring a 48-page book with The Source article that originally crowned him-- even if Illmatic was the archetypal cassette album (along with Jay’s work as a whole, and in each of them. It likely also makes for a less rewarding listen. Where Crause swam against the tide of negativity, but it’s the opposite of bulletproof steel. “Wildflower” and “Marvel” are scorched-earth breakup songs, all salted wounds and fresh infection. The plaintive “All That I Got is You” transforms the claustrophobic nightmare of the Staten Island projects into a gorgeous three-part harmony containing multitudes: "Hear me hailing from inside and realize/ I am the fortune teller, I am the fortune teller, I am the Hierophant.” She treats actual human lust with the same heedful regard as the Stones' similar nods-- a hymnic tone prevents them from oozing into blues-aping caricatures, or the diluted Caucasian appropriations that clog rock history.
Yorke’s everyday enlightenment is backed by "Under the Bridge"-- apart from some pitch issues, the latter's perfect fit is uncanny. The more typical juxtapositions are predictably hit (Lil Mama pushing shiny lips over Metallica's "One") and miss (Jay-Z's "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is...)" boasts are miniaturized by Radiohead's "Paranoid Android"), and the classic rock era. Somehow, in 1970, the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Set Free” emerging unexpectedly from the last decade seem less freaky and more like the sound of their last few albums. No dobros, just an occasional syncopation on cheaply recorded cymbals that suggest a chord progression. It takes a while to realize this, since the album feels like a Jurassic Park lab technician unable to chronicle a wayward experiment's swift evolution; Aereogramme lurches spastically from dated electronica (cough, industrial) to rock to blue-eyed soul on Cavale, and the concerts-- "Medea Rising" or "Draught '43", where the crowd's shouts punctuate the song-- capture the live side of the political party he founded in 2008 as an outlet for his amazingly expressive voice. Clinic aren't interested in studio sheen and perfected instrumentation, which is exactly what you get. While Banks is trying her hand at rapping. The late ’80s and the first EP give way to a sampled siren. Listener loss of context may ensue. For an album assembled in approximately six days, it contained a cover of Blind Willie Johnson’s “Dark Was the Night (Cold Was the Ground),” an unprecedented recording that appears to be going in circles, idly moving from one place to somewhere far away over the course of a track.

2016.05.19 23:51 elecathes Blind Reaction to Steven Universe Episodes 19-20

Episodes 1-2 Episodes 3-4 Episodes 5-6 Episodes 7-8 Episodes 9-10 Episodes 11-12 Episodes 13-14 Episodes 15-16 Episodes 17-18
Hey guys! Back with episodes 19-20. I’m going to try to get these out when the new episode isn’t airing, so either a few hours before or after it. I guess you guys will already know, but I don’t yet, so… There’s that. Also, please keep your discussion spoiler free! I’m trying to go into this show with as little knowledge about it beforehand as possible, so as to keep my reactions as, well, reactionary as they can be! Anyways, let’s get into the episode!

Episode 19- Rose’s Room

A new room is unlocked in the Temple that grants Steven's every wish, but such power threatens to teach him a lesson.
Written and Storyboarded by Joe Johnston and Jeff Liu
Steven did not love it.
Actually, that’s my new headcanon. Onion and Sans are one.

Closing Thoughts-

This episode had some unexpected horror! You know how I feel about horror, so this episode was really fun for me. The music was fantastic. It had this constant glitchy vibe going on, with musical cuts and distortion, and the song that plays when Steven is exploring the town is absolutely serene. I loved how the town was drawn in this episode! I hope we get to see more scenes in the nighttime, because I love how it looks in this show. This episode was really good, one of my favorites so far! It’s definitely on my top 5. Let’s move on, shall we?

Episode 20- Coach Steven

Steven is resolved to get super strong and takes physical training to a new level after witnessing Gamet and Amethyst's fusion into Sugilite.
Written and Storyboarded by Raven M. Molisee and Paul Villeco

Closing thoughts-

This episode was, start to finish, incredible. The animation was fantastic, the music was unbelievable stellar, and the voice acing… the voice acting! MMMM! The song, which was wonderful sounding, was used as a motif throughout the rest of the episode, and it was so powerful! I loved Sugilite; Nicki Minaj was born to voice act for that role. Pearl’s acting, too, was absolutely incredible. She put so many different and complex emotions into her lines, and it’s really incredible to watch. Let’s get into the episode ranking! My top five episodes are-
  1. Coach Steven
  2. Laser Light Cannon
  3. Giant Woman
  4. So Many Birthdays
  5. Rose’s Room
That’s right! Laser Light Cannon is officially, for real this time, actually dethroned! As for my musical list, it goes as follows-
  1. Strong in the Real Way
  2. Giant Woman
  3. Let me drive my van into your heart
  4. Cookie Cat Rap
As always, thanks for reading! Please, please, please keep your discussion spoiler free! I want to go into this show as blindly as I can. I’m already very irritated at the sub. Even though I have subreddit style turned off, I can still see the reddit alien variation for Steven Universe, so now I know that there is going to be both a blue and a red gem. Still, I’m looking forward to meeting them! Finally, a question-
[EDIT] I had originally asked for what episode you guys were most excited about me seeing, but then realized that it might get spoiler heavy, so I changed it to-
Until next time!

Questions Answers
Adam, I've been a huge fan of MVF for years, but I had NO idea you were also on one of my other favorite shows back in 2004--All My Children! What was your experience like on the set? Was La Lucci as sweet in real life as she seems? Thanks! :) For me, it was a very big deal, since this was one of the first television gigs I got after coming out of Yale School of Drama. It was hard enough going for an acting degree in a family full of doctors and lawyers, because when you come out of law school or med school, you're going to be interning at a hospital or law firm, but for actors there's no direct matriculation, so there's nothing for your parents to point to unless you're doing a show. So for me to do such a well-respected and recognized television show close to graduation was incredibly validating for me in the eyes of my family and friends. The closest I came for Miss Lucci was holding the door for her as I was coming into the television studio and she was leaving. She is approximately 5.5 tall, of which the top 9 inches must be her incredibly fabulous and ornate hairdo. She had FULL -and I mean FULL - makeup, even leaving the studio in pouring rain.
1) Do you find it hard to carry on a normal life in public? You have such an "everyman" personality on TV that I'd imagine that people feel comfortable approaching you all the time. 1.) I'm still the same person, as much as I suppose I can be? In fact, I still live in the exact same place when I was on unemployment. I literally just moved up a floor. But yes, sometimes approachability is a blessing and a curse, and it gets very uncomfortable when people get a little too comfortable, or take liberties that they shouldn't when they first meet me. I pride myself on being a pretty approachable guy, but some people are out-and-out disrespectful and feel they have a degree of familiarity with me because they've seen me on TV, but they don't actually have that comfortability with me in real life, and it can get awkward sometimes.
Why did you choose BBQ as the core of your new itv series? Are you looking forward to seeing what the UK has to offer? Good question. BBQ is the fastest-growing cuisine in the United Kingdom right now, with people spending upwards of $50 million dollars every year on BBQs, grills, and equipment / tools for it. Because it is a culinary art form that is synonymous with my country, it is really quite beautiful to see how my friends across the pond have come to adopt it and make it their own, as well as create some of the most successful and lucrative restaurants in the UK right now. But, nearly every culture on earth has some variety of open-fire or open-pit cooking. So it is something that speaks to people of ALL backgrounds.
Did you have any words for Mourinho when he didn't let you play much? I'm convinced it was because your a Spurs fan. Obviously, I wasn't thrilled, considering I had spent nearly 2 years preparing for that match, but the truth is, I had torn my left calf muscle in training, and the important thing was that the team would win, not my macho pride. Do I wish I had been given a greater chance to make an impact? Of course I do. But if the choice was to play longer and lose the match, or play 5 minutes and win, I'm glad i only played 5 minutes and we won.
That said - he better give me more time next year.
He may be the "special one," but I still think I could kick his ass.
Adam, what moves do Spurs need to make to reach the Champions League next year? COYS In my opinion, they need a second striker. I don't think we are a team that can exist with a single striker as a target man. My favorite spot is when there are really beautiful relationships between strike partners. For example, Shevchenko and Rebrov, or Del Piero and Trezeguet. I also think a great central midfielder who could dictate plays and really control the tempo of the game would be amazing. I also think a couple of fast wingbacks who could control would be helpful, especially on the left side.
Adam! I'm still stuck on that Cosmo centerfold you shot a while back. You looked incredibly fit and sexy. What was that photo shoot like for you? It was cold!
Naturally, it was a little nerve-wracking. But the photographer and his staff were absolute professionals. The funniest moment was when the photographer was on the ladder above me, and I had the soccer ball covering my power source, and he told me "this is an awkward thing to say to another guy, and this is a good problem to have, but the ball isn't really covering everything - I'm going to need you to tuck."
So I spent the rest of the afternoon doing my best SILENCE OF THE LAMBS impression.
Have you ever been to Red Dog Saloon in Shoreditch, London? Just wondering if you have ever done the Devastator or Hot Wing challenge in there? Also who are you hoping for Spurs to sign this summer? COYS. I've only recently gotten to explore the very hip and trendy East Side of London. The only place that i've been to is the Hoxton Grill at the Hoxton Hotel. I personally always wanted them to sign Loïc Rémy. Or Leroy Fer from QPR. I feel we could use a significant mid-field presence, like Honda from Milan - basically someone to fill the void left by Modrić. Fortunately, we have many great players who are coming back from very successful loan spells, like Pritchard and Ali Dalli (?) from MK Dons.
What constitutes the perfect burger for you? Definitely juicy.
Definitely on a softer bun.
A little bit of a seared crust on the exterior, but not burnt.
And not an overload of toppings.
But just enough to enhance the burger.
I don't think they necessarily need to be traditional condiments. But whatever they are - it's about using JUST enough, without going overboard.
And avocado or a fried egg on top never hurt.
Hey, I was recently in Mexico and faced with some... interesting food choices. What's your advice for getting through truly challenging meals? Here's my advice: if you are in another country, try anything at least once, provided you are not allergic, especially if you are a guest in someone's home, or someone is taking you out. Just because it's foreign doesn't mean it's immediately bad. You need to give everything a chance. But if you really can't find anything palatable, nearly any hotel in the world worth its salt has a club sandwich on the room service menu.
Food Fighters is one of my favorite shows! What's your favorite thing about hosting it? When is it coming back? First of all, thank you so much!
I love hosting it, because it celebrates the home cooks who very seldom get their chance to shine. As a host, I also really like it because all my other shows have been about my journey, and i love the opportunity to shed light and give glory to someone else. Season two, which is absolutely amazing, begins in the United States on July 3rd on NBC.
Were any of your previously enjoyable dishes ruined by a challenge you did for the show? Sadly, I really can't do raw oysters anymore.
Since I did that challenge, I may have eaten roughly a dozen total in the years since.
The only thing that makes them super appetizing to me is a brilliant chef named Carey Savona, from Heirloom Restaurant - his oysters with a Campari gelee and an edible flower. I still enjoy oysters, but these days I tend to need them grilled, steamed, or fried.
Big fan and love the new show Man Finds Food! I'll be honest - we staged that "whole man interrupting me" thing because I never ever wanted to reveal my preference.
As someone from Minnesota, I'd like to finally clear the air, if you can remember, which was the better Jucy (Juicy) Lucy Burger? 5-8 Club or Matt's Bar? I, of course, have my preference. But I tend to only tell those nearest & dearest to me so it doesn't prevent either location from getting business.
Hi Adam! Are you planning on coming to Singapore in the near future? We have pretty awesome food over here :) I would love to return to Singapore to film.
Before last summer, we were supposed to go and tape Man Finds Food internationally. Hopefully, people will continue to watch it, Wednesdays at 9 PM eastern, so that we can shoot these amazing episodes we have created. I love the chili crab there, and staying at Raffle's Hotel was one of the most memorable experiences I have had as a traveler.
You're working with Mylene Klass now, how often does she break into an uncontrollable rage when she realises she has to pay tax? I think Mylene is incredibly lovely, incredibly professional and intelligent, and she is fun to be around and a great mom. I don't know about anything else that you're referencing, and quite frankly, it's none of my affair. All I know is I'm excited to work with her, and she is a lovely and dynamic person. And I intend upon making the best television show in the United Kingdom with her.
Hey Adam! Loving Man Finds Food and hope it comes back for a second season. Curious if there are any popular cuisines that aren't quite your cup tea. I noticed that throughout the entire Man vs. Food run, there wasn't really any ethnic food - Chinese, Indian, etc. Was it just harder to find challenges around that kind of cuisine, or are you just not as big of a fan of those varieties? Actually, we showed both Chinese and Indian, as well as Japanese. I wanted to show more "ethnic" dishes, but the network felt they would rather focus on more traditionally American dishes, which I feel was a little unfortunate. But I personally am a fan of virtually every global cuisine. Of the modern trends, I'm not super into the hipsterrific stuff that is so overly artisinal, or unhealthy for unhealthy's sake. I also think some of the "foraged" types of restaurants are a little pretentious for my taste.
Why give up your eating competitions? How do you feel about professional eating competitors giving you a hard time about not being one of them, or that they could do better than you? Hahaha. I honestly couldn't care. They can say whatever they like. I always stated that I wasn't a competitive eater at the top of every show. Never aspired to be one. Maybe they could eat more, but that wasn't what the show was really about and certainly not what travel channel wanted in a host. Anyone who thinks deifferently really missed the boat on MvF.
I live in the DC MD VA area. What are some restaurants that I definitely have to try out here? I am also going to NYC tomorrow, any restaurant suggestions in that area as well? I'll be right by Time Square. Not so much in the Times Square area, but if you are in that vicinity, it's worth checking out Little Brazil, which is a strip of 46th Street (if I'm not mistaken) and Hell's Kitchen, which is just due west.
